Post Meta Field

The post meta (also known as custom fields) feature of WordPress helps us to associate more content with a post. You can display this content with your table data using Ninja Tables plugin. The content that isn’t directly connected with the main content itself. This content could be anything depending on the type of site you are working on.

This content is referred to as the custom fields and to find the option, you need to head over to the screen option of your WordPress editor.

You can add a new post or you can edit an existing post. Here I am editing an existing post to create a custom field on my table using Post Meta Field option of Ninja Tables plugin.

First, you need to navigate to the post editor screen of your WordPress admin panel. Click on the Scren Options of the panel.

Then you will see that an extended panel will appear, and there you will see the Custom Fields option will appear with a checkbo.

After checking the Custom Fields option, you will see a Custom Fields section at the bottom of the post.

Post meta follows a system called key/value pairs. Here in the above image, you can see I have created 3 custom fields with its value.

If I want to display one of the field in my table, I need to go to Ninja Tables dashboard and add a new table or click any of the created table.

Next, click on the Add Column option of the page.

After filling the basic information then you will find, Dynamic Post Data Settings section. From there, click on the Field Type option. A drop-down option will appear, click on the Post Meta option from there.

Next, you will see an input field will appear to provide the field value that is to display on the table.

Put the value that you have created in the custom fields section of your post section.

If I put ssbari as a Field Value from the Custom Fields section of the post page, then a post meta custom field column will add in my table. I am putting ssbari as Field Value of Dynamic Post Data Settings section.

Let’s have a look at the output of the table clicking on the preview button of Ninja Tables plugin.

Now, you can see that a post meta has added to your table as Custom Fields type. This is how you can use Post Meta of Ninja Tables.
